Our Mission
Our mission is to create the best web hosting community including the most accurate and up-to-date user reviews and ratings of web hosting companies and providing user to user help with web hosting and related issues.
WebHostingUsers was created to fill the voids in other web hosting directories and forums.
Anyone that is responsible for selecting a web hosting company has found that there are thousands of web hosting companies to choose from and it is difficult to find concise, consistent information on web hosting companies to make an informed decision. It is much easier to find information to buy a car with resources such as Consumer Reports, than it is to find good non-biased information and user reports on web hosting companies.
There are many web hosting directories, forums and "top ten" host sites. These sites are often very biased sites for the following reasons:
- Many of these websites list ONLY the hosts that advertise with them.
- Many of these websites list ratings and ranking from their staff, not from actual users. In some cases, it may be that the "top" or "top ten" web hosting companies are actually the ones that have the highest monetary payouts in their affiliate program to the web hosting directory.
- Some of these websites are actually owned by a web hosting company - that shows a little bias, now doesn't it? It is amazing how their web hosting brands always are ranked the highest.
Another problem with these web hosting directories is that it is often difficult to find actual users to ask about their experience and to network with other hosting company customers.
Even web hosting companies that might admit (perhaps privately) that they are not comfortable with their users rating their services will acknowledge (perhaps privately again) that honest feedback is useful for them to have actionable intelligence to improve their products and services.
How are we different?
We do not provide web hosting services.
We are not owned by a web hosting company.
We do not allow web hosting company employees to rate their own or other web hosting companies.
We are building a community of web hosting users around the web hosting directory and ratings.
With web hosting, since it is a service, ratings can change over time - which is different than ratings on a specific edition of a book. Therefore, we show ratings over time and provide an easy way for our users to quickly refresh or update their ratings each month. This also helps our visitors and users see trends of the hosts - whether they are improving or not over time, which keeps them from selecting a host based on outdated ratings!
