A Chia Pet likeness of President Obama's head is causing quite a bit of controversy, so much so that it has been pulled from some store shelves.
Walgreen's stores in Tampa and Chicago have taken the item off their shelves after some customers complained it is racist. It is still available through online retailers. News of the controversy has reportedly led to a run on the items on Ebay.com, with some sellers saying they expect to sell out soon.
The Chia Obama Special Edition features a replica of President Obama's head with the plant growing out of his scalp, serving as his hair. It is available in two different poses: one features the president smiling, and the other shows a more determined expression, according to the company's Web site.
The Chia Obama is being marketed as a special edition, and comes from the same company that has produced different types of Chia Pets for decades.
